    Roy Disney honored in Italy
    Big News Network (UPI)
    Friday 7th April, 2006

The 10th Cartoons on the Bay Festival in Positano, Italy, gave Roy Disney a lifetime achievement award Thursday.

The 76-year-old nephew of Walt Disney was honored for his career that began in 1954 as an assistant film editor, The Hollywood Reporter said.

Roy Disney produced Fantasia 2000 and serves as the director emeritus of his late uncle's company.

The festival also screened Destino, a 1946 collaboration between Spanish painter Salvador Dali and Walt Disney that was not completed until 2003.

Roy Disney said the eight-minute Oscar-nominated film will be released along with documentary footage on DVD later this year.
