Bush falls to 34 percent favor in CBS poll
    Big News Network (UPI)
    Tuesday 28th February, 2006

U.S. President George Bush's overall job approval rating has fallen to 34 percent from 42 percent last month, a CBS poll published Tuesday said.

In a telephone poll of 1,018 people between Feb. 22-26, 59 percent said they disapprove of the job the president is doing, an all-time low in the news organization's polls.

Pessimism about the Iraq war has risen to a high, with just 30 percent approving of Bush's management of it.

Asked if the president cares about people, 51 percent said he doesn't, compared to 47 percent in a similar poll last fall.

More troublesome for Bush is a loss of Republican confidence regarding his support of allowing an Arabic company to manage six major U.S. seaports. A total of 70 percent of respondents said they were opposed to the deal, including 58 percent of Republicans.

The poll had a margin of error of 3 points.
