Jamaican reggae star Joseph Hill has died in Berlin -- midway through the European tour of his roots reggae band, Culture.
Hill's daughter, Andrea, told Pollstar her 57-year-old father suddenly became ill and died Saturday. The cause of death was not yet known.
Culture's representatives told Pollstar the band will continue its tour with Hill's son, Kenyatta, taking his father's place.
Hill, who has a star on the Jamaican Reggae Walk of Fame, founded Culture in 1976 and penned some of its best known songs including Two Sevens Clash, Natty Never Get Weary and I'm Not Ashamed.
He was honored by the Jamaican government with its 2005 Independence Award for his cultural contributions.
